Meet Katie - Our Purchasing Officer

How long have you been a TL member? I joined around the end of 2022 a few months before my daughter turned 1.

Why did you join? I didn't want to keep buying toys that my daughter wouldn't play with. The toy library was an easy choice to save money, reduce waste and help keep my daughter entertained. It also helps that I lived close by! What do you like about the Toy Library? The variety and quality of toys! What is your committee role and what does it involve?

As the Purchasing Officer, I purchase new toys, replacement toys and ad-hoc items required to operate the library. The committee contributes to the list of things to buy and my role is to find ways to get the best value for money through minimising delivery costs and finding as many discounts as I can (which can be quite satisfying!).

I also help out with ad-hoc general committee tasks when needed.

Do you have a favourite toy/type of toy?

My favourite toy is whatever toy keeps my daughter entertained the longest. Right now, she is really into the pushing and ride on type toys.

Any tips for new members? If you are able to, I highly recommend volunteering for duty - its a great way to meet the community and get a better appreciation of the work that is needed to run a toy library.
