How long have you been a TL member?

I joined at the beginning of 2016.

Why did you join?

My sister used to be a toy library member and I remembered her always having awesome toy library toys around her house that her kids loved.

When my son turned one and started becoming bored with the toys I had at home (and of me!) I knew it was time for some more stimulation, however I didn't want to clutter my house with toys, so the best solution was to join a toy library. 

What do you like about the Toy Library?

There's so many things I love about the toy library. The abundance and variety of toys. The fact that my son always gets excited about coming to the toy library and is now putting in his requests when I head off to a committee meeting. However over the years my most favourite thing has been meeting the incredible volunteers along the way both within our toy library and the greater toy library community.

What is your committee role and what does it involve?

As El Presidente I oversee all the operations of the toy library to make sure we are constantly evolving and providing a great service to our members. I also purchase the toys and am heavily involved in the toy maintenance to ensure that every toy is a great toy. Oh and I work on the website too.

Do you have a favourite toy/type of toy? 

This is a tough one! I think the Melissa & Doug Ice Cream Counter would be my current favourite - and my sons! Then the trampolines, basketball rings, Orchid Games... I could go on and on...

Any tips for new members?

Get involved and find out just how rewarding volunteering can be! Bring your kids in to help with borrowing toys - you'll often be surprised at what they select. We have over 2,000 at the toy library and with 300 members, 900 toys are always out for borrowing - which means each time you come to visit there will always be a new range of toys to choose from.

Let us know if there's any specific toys that you are after and we'll do our best to get them added to our collection for you. Oh and if the toy you borrowed was a disappointment please tell us and we'll find another home for it.
